Terms of Service

Taken is a cozy shared space for two people who are together. You must be an adult (18+) to use it. Please use it kindly — it's built for two people to feel closer, not to keep score of each other.

You sign in with an email and password, or with your Google or Apple account if you prefer. Keep your account secure and don't share your sign-in with anyone but yourself. You're responsible for what happens under your account, and for making sure the info you add is yours to add.

Taken is designed for two. When you pair, some of what you choose to share becomes visible to your partner (you always control which items, per your privacy settings). If you part ways, either of you can end the relationship — shared things stop being shared, and each of you keeps your own space.

What you write in Taken is yours. You give us only the permission we need to store it and show it back to you (and to your partner, for the items you chose to share) so the app can work. We don't claim ownership of your words, and we never sell them.

Don't use Taken to harass anyone, to upload content you have no right to, to attempt to access another person's private data, or to break the app or the law. Intimacy features are for consenting adult partners only.

There is no tolerance for abusive or illegal content here. Sexual content involving anyone under 18, threats, content that harasses or endangers a real person, and non-consensual intimate images are all grounds for removing content and closing accounts immediately, with no warning and no appeal.

If something in Taken harms you, report it from Settings → Privacy → “Report a problem”, which reaches us directly. If you believe something here was posted about you without your consent, write to admin@taken.love with enough detail to find it, and we'll act on it. Copyright complaints have their own process, below.

We respect copyright and expect everyone using Taken to do the same. If you believe something in Taken infringes a copyright you own, send a written notice to our designated copyright agent that includes:

• • your physical or electronic signature;
• • the copyrighted work you say is infringed;
• • the material you say infringes it, with enough detail for us to find it in Taken;
• • your name, postal address, phone number and email;
• • a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
• • a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.

If we remove something you added because of a notice and you believe that was a mistake, you can send the agent a counter-notice and we'll explain the next steps. We close the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe.

Some features use AI to help with suggestions. They're optional, consent-gated, and best-effort — AI can be wrong or imperfect, so treat its output as a friendly prompt, not the final word. Full detail lives in our Privacy Policy.

Taken is free to use. Taken Plus is an optional subscription that adds extra games, more AI rounds and more room — one subscription covers both partners. It is sold monthly or yearly; the yearly plan can start with a free trial, and you are charged when the trial ends unless you cancel before then.

It renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. Cancel at least a day before it renews to avoid the next charge; you keep Plus until the end of the period you paid for. You cancel, and ask for refunds, wherever you subscribed: the App Store, Google Play, or the receipt of a purchase made on taken.love — Taken does not see or store your card.

If you and your partner unpair, Plus stays with whoever pays for it. Deleting your account does not cancel a store subscription — cancel it in the store first.

Taken is in early access and offered as is. We work hard to keep it running and safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, Taken isn't liable for indirect or incidental damages arising from your use of the app.

You can stop using Taken and delete your account anytime from Settings. What deletion actually removes is spelled out on deleting your account. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.

If we make meaningful changes to these terms or to the privacy policy, we'll tell you in the app and ask you to read them — Taken records which version you agreed to, so we can tell who still needs to see the new one. Small clarifications just get the date at the top bumped.

Taken is operated by Dead Center Studios LLC, a New York limited liability company. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York.
